The municipality of the Village of Doaktown provides the following basic services to its taxpayers: police protection (through a contractual arrangement with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police), fire protection; a municipal water system, a municipal waste water (sewer) system, roads and garbage collection. In addition, Council oversees such matters as land use planning, the issuance of development permits, dog control, and emergency measures.

The village of Doaktown is located in the heart of the Miramichi, along the Miramichi River.
